THE JOYS OF SPRING

Another milestone in the season as the clocks went forward while we were sleeping last night. Are we really meant to believe it's all in the worthy cause of saving daylight? I already have enough problems trying to fit all I want to in a day without losing a precious hour!

VI NATIONS - FIN

All in all, it's been a fairly interesting, fairly frustrating and fairly surprising VI Nations this year. Sometimes, it's quite tough supporting Italy especially when they get their arses whooped so comprehensively as 50-8 .. Still, on the positive side, England came second in the Tournament. And I know, even if the referees didn't, that Nick scored a try yesterday. Anyway, back to my week-ends being (almost) my own again ;p

PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT

Today is the last day of the VI Nations :(

Still, it's an exciting day in prospect and there's even the Player of the Tournament results to look forward to. Out of a shortlist of Brian O'Driscoll, Paul O'Connell, Jamie Heaslip (Ireland), Lee Byrne (Wales), Sergio Parisse (Italy) and Delon Armitage (England), BOD is winning by 'just less than 1% of the vote' over Sergio, with Delon Armitage just 3% behind those two. Apparently 'fans' votes over the final weekend will make all the difference to the result'! You can vote here!
please don't let it be BOD, just please don't let ..

FIRST DAY OF SPRING

This week, we've had such beautiful weather that you just knew spring was on its way. Today is the equinox so it all gets better from here with longer, warmer days (well, hopefully), the garden coming back to life again, people being in a more positive mood .. Is there no end to spring's effects? ;p

p.s. The soul-cheering DMFs are back. I'm on my second of the season!

YOGA III

Anyway, back to more serious things. This is what we should be doing this month. It's good for stress, lower back pain, indigestion, insomnia and headache. All our problems solved in one easy pose!

VI NATIONS III

After the disenchantment of the other week, it seems that England can pull their socks up and rabbits out of hats and produce a brilliant match - at half-time, they were leading 29-0, which is almost unheard of against France! Nick's tidy new haircut matched England's tidy new performance and I even found myself leaping up and shouting as if I were at a real rugby match. Meanwhile, Italy are still wedged firmly with their wooden spoon at the bottom of the table. The commentators (with obviously nothing better to do) kept repeating the statistic that Italy have only scored one try this tournament - and that from a certain Mirco Bergamasco in a certain England-Italy match. All of which lends credence to my <ahem, delusional> belief that the Mirco flag has magic powers. I think more trips to Rome are needed!

VI NATIONS II

I feel like the proverbial 'disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' after watching yesterday's rugby. I won't ramble on, suffice to say that I am thoroughly fed up with the sheer dullness of it all. Italy hardly ever seem to learn their lessons to stop themselves being the whipping boys with the wooden spoon. Likewise, England, who are skirting perilously close to that territory themselves, are fast becoming known as the naughty boys of European rugby and being thoroughly spanked for their lack of discipline. Before yesterday's match, the momentous feat of 'eight yellow cards in three games' was lamented at every occasion. After yesterday's match, they had another two to add to that score, as well as being lazy and slow, and painful to watch. Like Martin Johnson says: what's needed is T-C-U-P. And fast before we all go off and do something more enjoyable ..
