© mairie de parisAlways full of bright new initiatives to make Paris an even nicer place (or maybe they've heard my constant yapping about how great it is to cycle around Paris) from this summer, the Paris Mairie will be hiring out bicycles to all and sundry. Moi, je dis bravo! Just a few things to be careful of: turning left; cycling to Montmartre (uphill all the way); pedestrians who don’t know which way to look to cross the road; Parisian cobblestones.

Actually, some similar schemes have been going on for some time in other French cities, including in Lyon since 2005.

What? You mean to say that Paris is copying? Well, it's a jolly good idea whoever thought of it, so if I ever go to Lyon, I'll be sure to make the most of it!
