WISH TREE

There's a lot been happening in the rugby world but rather than bore you with that for the moment, I thought I'd tell you about a lovely event on the south bank. 'Tanabata' ('festival of the stars') is a 2,000 year old Japanese tradition where people write down their wishes on coloured pieces of paper and hang them on bamboo branches on the luckiest day of the year - this year: 7th July. From 30th June until that luckiest day, you can hang your wish on the Tsuru bamboo tree. They have even promised to grant one lucky customer’s wish! (well, up to £100, that is!)

H-CUP 2010

The draw for the H-Cup has been made and Stade find themselves in a pool with Bath, Ulster (again!) and Edinburgh. 'Quins are up against Toulouse, Cardiff and Sale. The other good news is that next year, the Final is going to be in Paris! So guess who'll be going?! And hoping that Stade are there?! Or 'Quins?! And 'Quins even?! Or just enjoying themselves in Paris?!

BEES
Ahem! Just a subtle little reminder to a certain fellow blogger about a certain white beehive that they promised to make. Actually, two of them if I remember rightly. And I have just the place, between the lilac and the cherry tree, just waiting patiently for this lovely white beehive ..

BAROQUE

There is an interesting exhibition of Baroque at the V&A at the moment. Ordinarily, Bernini's St. Teresa is really as close as I get to appreciating baroque art but I have to admit that if you ignore the over-the-top mirrors and carriages, there are some little gems, like the imperfect pearl and the little wax model of the theatre of death. And what's more, since most other people avoid Baroque too, it's a really peaceful exhibition where you can actually look at things properly without all the jostling of the throngs.

YOGA VI
This month's pose stretches and strengthens the wrists and the backs of the legs and, as you'd imagine, improves sense of balance. It's a bit hard ..
