LILLE

This week, I have had a very busy time of it but on Wednesday, I had a nice break and went on a day trip to Lille where I learned a little bit about its history and its buildings. The town is very old, dating back to 640, and was originally known as L'Isle because the area was very marshy, subsequently filled in and built upon. It has the second largest Musée des Beaux Arts in France, (after guess which? ;p). It also has a Notre Dame (above). And its most famous sons are Louis Pasteur and Charles de Gaulle. Do you think I missed my vocation as a tourist guide? ;p
